The Forest Anthems
There are two main anthems related to Nottingham Forest, which are both shortly played before each half of a City Ground match. One is called City Ground which is sung to the tune of Mull Of Kintyre by Wings. The fans have adapted the verses and it features lyrics such as 'Oh mist rolling in from the Trent" and "Far have I travelled, much have I seen, Goodison, Anfield are places I've been'. The second anthem is 'You've lost that loving feeling' which the Forest fans sing to taunt the opposition fans when the Reds score a goal.
An older Trent End favourite is 'I never felt more like singing the blues, when Forest win and Derby lose', sung to the tune of Guy Mitchell's Singing the Blues.
Forest even had a hit single alongside the band Paper Lace which was called 'The Forest March' ('We've got the Whole World in our Hands') which was released in February 1978 on 7-inch vinyl, charting at number thirteen in its first week of sales. It featured the fans on the introduction singing 'We all agree Nottingham Forest are magic.' The successful side of the time also sang on the single notably on the changed chorus which featured the lyrics 'We're the best team in the land, we're the best damn team in the land.'
Another older anthem from the City Ground terraces is the adaption of Lee Marvins Wandering Star. The lyrics had been adapted again by the fans with such changes as 'I was born under a Trent End goal.' When Marvin describes what wheels and mules were made for, the fans changed the lyrics explaining how certain implements were made for inflicting injuries on Derby fans.
For 40 years the team used to run out from the tunnel to the theme tune from the television series The Adventures of Robin Hood. Since the 2006-2007 season the theme tune from the new BBC Robin Hood series has been used.
In 1990 the Nottingham Punk band Resistance 77 recorded a song called 'You Reds' which BBC Radio Nottingham used as part of their coverage of Forest games for a time.
