The History of Forest

Under Davies, Forest stretched their unbeaten record in all competitions following Calderwood's sacking to six matches, including five wins. He also helped them avoid relegation as they finished 19th in the Championship, securing survival with one game to go.

In preparation for the 2009-2010 campaign, Forest signed nine players, five of whom were on loan at the club in the previous season and returned on permanent deals.

The 2009-2010 season has been very successful for Forest with the club holding a top three position for the majority of the season, putting together an unbeaten run of 20 league games, winning 12 home league games in a row (a club record for successive home wins in a single season), going unbeaten away from home from the beginning of the season until January 30 2010 (a run spanning 13 games) whilst also claiming memorable home victories over Derby and Leicester.

It was a pleasure to watch some of the football played that season after all the previous years of under- achieving and lack of effort.

Billy Davies appeared to embrace the role as Forest manager well and although he often expressed dismay at some of the boards workings of the club, he found success easy to come by.

Forest secured a play-off place after a 3-0 home victory against Ipswich Town with four games left to spare in the League. Although Forest were beaten by Blackpool at Bloomfield Road, 2-1, on May 9 and 4-3 in the home leg at the City Ground on May 12, falling 6-4 on aggregate and missing out on promotion to the Premier League.Davies and Holloway after play off semi-final 2nd leg

It was a bitter pill to swallow for the fans who having seen Forest in the top three of the table for the majority of the season were to take nothing away from such an exciting campaign, although the style and passion that Billy has brought back to the club is a breath of fresh air and all the paying long suffering fans have wanted to see is some grit and determination return to the team, a factor that sometimes has appeared to be missing

There is an air of expectation that the 2010-2011 season will see the younger players mature even more and the unique mix of our squad will get their rewards this year and the Reds will return to the top flight of English football once more
