Hodgey was promoted through the club's youth system and made his debut at the age of 19 in 1982.

In the 1989 League Cup Final against Luton it was Hodge who was brought down by Mick Harford to get Forest a penalty which was cooly converted by Nigel Clough

Hodgey famously swopped the Maradona shirt from the 1986 World Cup hand of God game. But for Forest fans there are many moments of history they remember Hodgey for more than this one.
