Few players have become Forest legends in such a short stay at the City Ground but Stan will always be loved by the fans for his prolific goalscoring, enthusiasm and massive work rate for the Reds. Stan could lash a shot in from distance prompting calls of 'One Stanley' around the City Ground. His record of 45 goals in just 78 appearances is an extroadinary return for any footballer.

One game that stands out for Stanley was Forest V Man United at Old Trafford on the 17th December 1994. He'd had an early goal disallowed, so he unleashed a screamer from 20 yards one of many Stanley Specials that season. Stan was an exciting powerful striker whose goalscoring record is extroadinary.

Some fans consider Stan to be the best striker ever seen at Forest, but his attitude and antics towards the end of his time at Forest with his constant pleas in the press that he wanted to leave the club brought some ill feeling towards him which was reflected when he returned to the City Ground a month later with Liverpool to jeers. From the new year of 1995 the rumours had flown around the stands that he was on his way and he gestured to the crowd on more than one occasion after scoring goals and wouldn't accept the accolade of his teammates.

He continued to work hard though and scored important goals for the Reds although his relationship with the crowd was irrepairable as they never forgave him for his attitude. His move to Liverpool for 8.5 million pounds when it finally happened broke the British transfer record.

Stan retired in 2001 and is now working as a pundit for five television and a talkSPORT host
