Paul Daniel Smith 22/01/1976 NAT: England POS: Goalkeeper Previous Clubs: Southampton Joined Forest: 2006 Signing fee: Southampton Left Forest: A quiet and unassuming goalkeeper who fell out of favour after the arrival of Lee Camp.
Smith is capable of pulling off some fantastic saves and he has been the victim of some freak goals, when he has been the last man in some shaky defences. Paul started the 08-09 season as first choice keeper but after a difficult opening to the season he was dropped from the side bringing to an end a sequence of 112 consecutive games for the Reds During the 2007-2008 season Smith at times provided examples of the kind of agility and speed of reaction that once had him on the fringes of the England squad One of his greatest achievements was keeping goal at the Eastlands Stadium when Forest beat Manchester City 0-3 in the 2008-2009 FA Cup, a game that Billy Davies watched from the stands before becoming the Red's boss.
