Once Shorey came into the 2009-2010 squad for the left back position that had been impossible to fill all season, the side suddenly looked like world beaters as they went unbeaten.

The fans demanded for him to be signed up but Billy Davies found it was not to be and after only 8 appearances Villa loaned him to Fulham instead.

Forest never regained that solid composure along the back four and it was more than likely this decision to not sign Shorey that cost the Red's automatic promotion that season.

In an away game at Watford on Boxing Day 2009 Shorey played some of the game in goal after Lee Camp was sent off

In his final game Shorey actually recieved a straight red card. A result of his enthusiastic efforts getting the better of him
