Lewis Mcgugan was brought into the side from the reserve team in November 2007 as a replacement for the departed Neil Lennon and cemented his place in the side with some brave performances causing Clingan and Cohen to raise their games from midfield also.

Lewis is a player who spent much of the 2009-2010 season watching from the bench. He waited for chances to come on and impress Billy Davies but they proved to be rare.

Previously he was a starter for the club and worked the central midfield well in League One, turning his markers easily. Lewis scored a great goal on New Years Day 2008 at the City Ground Vs Huddersfield with an injury time winner. Another fantastic goal was at Hartlepool on April 26 2008 in the penultimate game of the season when Forest were pushing for automatic promotion. Lewis came on as a substitute as Forest needed a goal in the 0-0 game, McCleary fed him the ball with a single pass which Mcgugan took with a single touch to switch the ball onto his left foot, unleashing a poweful shot which went inside the far post gifting the reds all the points.

He is a player with a good range of passing ability, capable of scoring worldlie goals as he is not afraid to shoot from distance and is also efficient at free kicks with varying success.

Lewis shows poise and good balance for a big man and hopefully as he matures he will become an even better player, giving him a regular place in the side again.
