Kristian Arran Commons 30/03/1983 NAT: Scotland POS: Midfield Previous Clubs: Stoke City Joined Forest: 02/07/2004 Signing on fee: Free from Stoke City Left Forest: 06/08/08 free to Derby County Kris Commons is seen by many at the City Ground as a Judas now after leaving for Derby County on a free transfer after demanding a pay rise to remain Trentside. But during his time at the club Commons was a lynchpin in the midfield area and his bullet like shot and free kicks were instrumental in so many Forest victories. Whenever Commons had the ball he looked like a player with a purpose constantly searching for gaps in the opposition defences Many fans will remember the boy who arrived from Stoke proud to wear the shirt of the team he supported growing up who could have become a Forest legend if he hadn't sought riches elsewhere. In his final season for the club he appeared at times as if he couldn't be bothered and even found himself relegated to the bench for a spell but on each occasion he was substitued in to the game and changed the impetus of each and every occasion. On Oct 13 2007 Commons netted a perfect hat trick against Cheltenham one of the goals being a 40 yard inch perfect finish with his weaker right foot through a melee of players. He was playing at his best on the final day of the season when Forest were promoted back to the Championship showing his unique guile and creativity scoring one final parting shot against Yeovil at the City Ground FL: 112 + 26, 32gls, FLC: 5 + 1, FAC: 0 + 1, 5g, Others: 4 + 2, 1g return to previous page |
