At the tender age of 18 Chris signed for Forest and amazingly never made a league appearance for the Reds. Though his name is well and truly in the record books for the League Cup campaign during the 1977-1978 season.

Shilton was cup tied so Woods thrown in goal where he helped the Reds all the way to the final.

It was a collection of brave performances that took them there, where Woods' youth didn't faze him none at the final at Wembley Stadium against Southampton Forest went on to win 3-2. He was the keeper a year later when Forest beat Liverpool in the League Cup Final to reclaim the cup.

Woods was also the substitute at the first European Cup Final Vs Malmo.

After leaving Forest Woods went on to win 43 caps for England and made over 600 appearances for QPR, Norwich and Rangers.

Woods was goalkeeper coach at Everton since 1998
