Allan Brown Allan Brown was appointed manager in 1973 after Dave Mackay had left Forest to manage the sheep. In 1974 Forest reached the quarter finals of the FA Cup losing 4-3 at Newcastle United, but the FA ordered a replay on neutral ground after some Newcastle fans caused the original tie to be held up. Two Forest players were assaulted at a time when the Reds were leading 1-3. The replay ended in a 0-0 draw, yet the next replay was lost 1-0 at Goodison Park. In 1975 Brown was sacked as manager after a string of poor results his last being a 0-2 defeat by Notts County on December 28th 1974. On January 6th 1975 Brian Howard Clough swept through the front doors of the City Ground and the rest is history. return to previous page |
